Troubleshooting

Check Engine Light:

TransmissionThe computer system in today’s cars monitors every system in the car. If the computer detects any problem in your car it will turn on your “Check Engine” light. When your “Check Engine” light comes on it is important to get it checked out as soon as possible. Your “Check Engine” light coming on does not necessarily indicate an engine problem. It could be a problem with your transmission, exhaust, or fuel system. When a problem is recognized by your computer it will set a code that can be retrieved by one of our highly qualified technicians. When your computer recognizes a problem it is also possible for it to make your car operate at a limited capacity. With your car operating at a limited capacity it is possible that you could be burning more fuel or your transmission could shift incorrectly.

Bring your car to 2 J’s Automotive today and let us perform a free diagnostic on your car.

Fluid Leak

The fluid in your transmission is extremely important to the operation of your transmission. Transmission fluid transmits power, is a heat exchanger, and also helps keep your transmission properly lubricated. If your transmission is leaking it could cause severe damage to your transmission. It is vital to bring your car to 2 J’s Automotive as soon as you detect a leak in order to prevent further damage to your transmission.

One of our qualified transmission experts will determine where your leak originated. A transmission can leak from nine to eleven different places. Many times a leak does not indicate a serious problem, but if the leak is not addressed quickly it can cause serious damage to your transmission.

At 2 J’s Automotive we will provide a free diagnostic on your leak to help you determine what services, if any, are required to repair your leak.

TransmissionVehicle Does Not Move

If your vehicle will not go into gear, move at all, or you are afraid to drive it any further, have it towed to 2 J’s Automotive. There are many reasons why your vehicle may not be moving. The first step to getting your vehicle back on the road is having it towed to 2 J’s Automotive. Once the car is at 2 J’s, a transmission physician will diagnose your problem free of charge. If it is determined that your transmission needs to be rebuilt 2 J’s will pick up the tow bill (if the tow is 15 miles or less).

2 J’s Automotive will help identify why your vehicle has stopped moving. We will provide a free diagnostics check that will check your fluid level, visually check your external connections, and scan your car for any codes your computer may have stored. After diagnosing your vehicle your transmission physician will recommend a course of action that could range from a minor adjustment to inspecting the internal components of your transmission. 2 J’s Automotive is committed to giving each customer an honest, straightforward explanation of what is causing your vehicle not to move.

Slipping Gears

A transmission that is slipping will cause the car to seem like the engine is racing but the transmission is lagging behind. This is a very common problem with a transmission, but it is difficult to diagnose due to the large variety of reasons that can cause a transmission to act in this manor.  Low fluid level, poor vacuum, and a defective shift cable are just a few of the many things that can cause a transmission to slip. If your transmission is slipping bring it into 2 J’s Automotive today and let one of our highly trained professionals diagnose you vehicle for free.

Erratic Shifting

Years ago, evaluating a vehicle that was shifting erratically was a simple process, but transmissions have become very complex and now require a qualified transmission professional to correctly diagnose the problem. 2 J’s Automotive offers a free diagnosis of any transmission that is shifting in an erratic manor.

A transmission is often condemned to be rebuilt simply based on an erratic shift. Many times, however, an erratic shift turns out to be something as minor as low fluid level, a misadjusted cable, or problem with an electronic component of the transmission. Bring your vehicle to 2 J’s Automotive today and one of our highly trained professionals will use the latest computer technology to diagnose your vehicle.
